MCP server

MCP reference

The 28 tools of the NubieCloud MCP server, their capabilities, the available resources and procedures, and the protocol revisions supported.

This page lists what the server exposes. For connecting and the permission model, see MCP server.

ℹ️ This list is the production server's, read from its registry. Your agent discovers it on connection — it doesn't need to know it in advance.

Read tools (16)

They change nothing. Your client can allow them as a group.

ToolWhat it does
whoamiWho you are, and in which organisation
list_projectsYour projects
describe_projectA project, its environments and its deployments
describe_deploymentAn application's state: status, image served, URL, auto-deploy
get_deployment_configEnvironment variables, names of the secrets set, workload type and command
get_deployment_logsAn application's logs
get_deployment_eventsA deployment's Kubernetes events
check_deployment_healthProbe an application on its public URL
list_buildsA project's builds
get_buildA build's detail, and whether its image was put into service
get_build_logsA build's logs
list_repositoriesConnected git repositories
detect_stackInfer a repository's technology stack
plan_stackPropose a deployment plan, executing nothing
list_databasesThe databases of a managed PostgreSQL
run_sql_readonlyQuery a database read-only, through a dedicated role

ℹ️ run_sql_readonly uses a separate PostgreSQL role, member of nothing, with SELECT only and a connection limit. It is not your application's role: reading does not require granting write.

Write tools (11)

They create or modify. Your client will ask for approval.

ToolWhat it does
create_organisationCreate an organisation
create_projectCreate a project
create_environmentCreate an environment
build_imageBuild an image from a repository — does not deploy
deploy_buildPut a built image into service on a deployment
create_code_appDeploy a code application from an already built image
create_managed_serviceDeploy a managed service or application
update_deploymentModify a deployment: memory, CPU, storage, replicas, port, image tag, workload type, start command
set_environment_variablesSave non-secret variables
set_secretsSet secrets — entered in the console
set_auto_deployTurn a deployment's auto-deploy on or off

⚠️ set_environment_variables REPLACES the list, it does not add to it. The tool refuses by itself a payload that would drop variables you didn't name — but read the current state first with get_deployment_config and send back the full set you want to keep.

ℹ️ build_image builds, deploy_build puts into service. The two are deliberately separate: a built image only reaches your production through an explicit action.

Workload type and start command

create_code_app and update_deployment accept workload_type:

ValueWhat it produces
webApplication exposed on the internet (default)
privateReachable inside the cluster only
workerBackground process: no Service, no Ingress, no probes, therefore no URL
cronScheduled task — schedule then becomes mandatory

command overrides the image's ENTRYPOINT: essential for a worker or a cron whose image starts a web server by default, otherwise the container starts its server and the task never runs. An empty list hands control back to the image's ENTRYPOINT — which is not the same as omitting command.

Operate tool (1)

ToolWhat it does
restart_deploymentRestart an application — sealed confirmation required

No deletion tool

There is none, and there is no capability disabled "for later" either. The registry refuses at import any tool whose name contains delete, destroy, drop, purge, remove, wipe or reset, and a test checks this across the whole catalogue. Every deletion happens in the console.

Resources (4)

An agent reads these to inform itself, without calling a tool.

ResourceContents
nubie://catalog/frameworksThe frameworks the platform can deploy
nubie://catalog/managed-servicesThe managed services and applications available
nubie://deployment/{id}/valuesA deployment's configuration, secrets removed
nubie://project/{id}/accessWho has access to a project, and why

ℹ️ Secrets are removed, not masked. Only their names remain. A masked value is still a value in the model's context, which it could copy verbatim into a later write.

Procedures (4)

Step-by-step guides the server provides to the agent, so it doesn't improvise the order of operations.

ProcedureWhen
mettre-en-ligne-un-depotFrom git repository to running application
diagnostiquer-un-deploiement-en-echecAn application won't start or won't respond
analyser-une-construction-qui-echoueA build fails
configurer-les-variables-d-une-applicationSet or change variables without losing any

Protocol

The server speaks revision 2026-07-28 of the Model Context Protocol natively, and also serves 2025-06-18 and 2025-03-26 for clients that stopped there.

Revision 2024-11-05 is not announced: it required an HTTP+SSE transport this server does not implement, and announcing it would promise what isn't delivered.

The server is stateless: there is no session to maintain, each request carries its own authentication.

Authentication, for an integrator

EndpointPOST https://api.nubiecloud.io/mcp
Unauthenticated401 with WWW-Authenticate: Bearer resource_metadata="…"
Resource metadata/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/mcp
Authorization server/.well-known/oauth-authorization-server
Client registrationClient ID Metadata Document (CIMD) — no dynamic registration, no client to pre-declare

The consent screen names the host of the client's identifier, never the name the client gave itself: anyone can write "Claude" in their metadata, nobody can claim a domain they don't control.
